This is a sponsored post as part of my L’Oreal Paris Ambassadorship for Feria Power Reds “Color To Dye For” campaign. All thoughts are my own and a personal reflection of my long lasting relationship with the brand.

Excited to announce I am the new L’Oreal Paris Feria Power Reds Ambassador. The story about how I went from natural blonde to fiery red might not seem that interesting. Girl meets Boy, Boy has a thing for red hair, and Girl falls in love so she decides to go for it to please Boy. In a twist of fate, turning red in fact broke Girl free from who she had become to make someone else happy, and got her in touch with who she really wanted to be. What Girl did as an act of love, turned into an unexpected journey to self-discovery, and ultimately an intrinsic part of her persona. Most of the time we don’t realize how a seemingly trivial choice could potentially impact our lives.

I know changing hair colors is fun, specially if you are in need of dramatic change in your life; but to me, the moment I saw myself on the mirror as a red head for the 1st time, I knew I had met my hair soul mate: a bottle of L’Oreal Feria Power Red in R68! I remember having to stalk it across different stores because R57 and R48 were- may I point out still are- the most popular choices. I felt like myself, as if I should had been bright red my entire life, and this whole time I was just hiding in a shell. I have been married to it ever since.

It is such a part of myself, that it has even become a part of my brand image; Perhaps, because we share many traits! It aligns with my multi-faceted life and bold personality- hello firey hot jokes-, and reminds me of how important it is to find your inner bright light, and shine on your own. Just like Feria Power Red does! It also makes me feel vibrant- never a dull doll-, but most of all, it makes me feel like ME! Who knew that in that aisle full of options, about 8yrs ago, I could have found what today is a part of myself.

  1. I have been recently looking at this dye and have been reading good and bad reviews on it and I was going to take the chance with this color but the one thing I want to know is if this dye bleeds at all? The point of finding a new red dye is for the summer because my red dye now bleeds really bad.

    1. Hey! Well, every red -sadly- bleeds. The point is to take care of it. Use a sulfate free haircare line, get a gloss like Frieda’s to give a boost of color, and try to shampoo no more than 2-3 times a week. You can condition tons in between or dry shampoo your scalp. During summer stay away from chlorine or salt water as it ruins the color, and if you must then use argan oil to protect strands, also apply hair SPF, and avoid contact with light clothes as it will stain them.

  2. Very cool story! I have a cosmetology license and while in school I would change my hair all the time but over the years I learned my hair works best either highlighted or a medium brown and longer than shoulder length. I’ve tried everything else and as much as I would love to go the way of Michelle Williams and bleach it blonde and cut it short I just know it wouldn’t work on me. Love your red though!

  3. Red looks good on you! How I wish I could change my hair color too. I really want to try pastel shades, but I’m afraid my work setting won’t allow me. I work in a hospital, so it would be really difficult for my patients to treat me seriously if, say, I have pastel pink hair. :)) Anyway, Have fun in experimenting with your hair color! 🙂

  5. Recently, I went from a (not so natural) blonde to some red highlights and I love it. Your hair looks fantastic and you look like a natural redhead. I can’t imagine you as a blonde. Would like to see your blonde pic too.

  6. You look great as a red head and it can totally pass as a natural enhanced color. I’m happy that you’re loving the new you. That’s all that matters.

  8. My hair is naturally red, but it’s more of an orange red. I have been thinking about coloring it a bit differently, though. Yours looks gorgeous.

  9. Changing colors is really a great way to change your appearance and improve it without having to spend lots of money. Unlike plastic surgery or anything that has to do with a knife, this one won’t require much pain as well!

  10. PPS. Since the topic is about Dyeing Red, I recently chose to color my hair a light tone of my natural black but mistakenly picked up a “Burgundy Black” (like what is that anyway) and it looked black enough to me and then i saw blood dripping in the shower and Im like “OMG my scalp is bleeding” but soon realize its the Burgundy (seriously, what is that). So there. Imagine you. Imagine you as a boy. Imagine you as a boy with lighter red head. Imagine you as a boy in lighter red head looking like an idiot. Thats me right now!
Next time I am staying away from the color aisle in the Women’s section of the drugstore and sticking in the narrowly defined Men’s section of colors – Black, Brown, Tan, Blonde!
