Losing a loved one made me realize I was in dire need of a change in my life. I needed to take time for myself, spend more time with my family, and re-organize/re-prioritize my path. So I took a much needed break to recharge myself and find my inner center again. I decided to give myself 20 days off. No social media, no blog, no work, no emails, total disconnect from the noise of the world… Just home with my family. I believe fashion can be an emotional outlet, even in the worst of situations, and I constantly use it as mine. Whether we are mourning, feeling happy, and even when getting married, the colors we choose allows us to express our emotions and set the tone for our day.

Lately I’ve been wearing nothing but black, white, and shades of grey. They represent my current state of mind
, and although it’s hard to bring some color back into my life right now, I decided to cheer myself a bit and share this orange-bubble gum combo from my never-before-seen ootd archives. This outfit it’s a self-reminder about unexpected life situations. Those that take you by surprise, shake your believes or reasoning a little, and teach you lasting lessons. I wasn’t sure about mixing some many colors at first, but I decided to remind myself that fashion it’s always fun and unexpected, and take a risk with it. My instinct paid off because I felt great all day, and to top ot off, it got me featured on many cool fashion sites like Chictopia: Best StreetStyle of NYFW and Glam.com’s video: NYFW Neon Style Scoop.
Sometimes, things we aren’t certain about can bring us a lot of happiness and pride, if we leave our doubts behind and give them a chance… Did you take the winter/holiday break to re-focus?
