There are many major holidays and events coming up in the next months. We are getting ready for the feast of feasts: Thanksgiving Day, The Mother of All Artsy Jet-Setter Soirees: Art Basel Miami Beach and my fave holidays: Xmas and New Years!! These are months to spend with family, friends, strange relatives and of course: shopping! There is nothing better than feeling you got amazing gifts at frugalicious prices so buckle-up and take note on these tricks and tips to keep your shopping bags full without having to empty out your wallet!

Holiday Shopping 101!
* Come Up With A Budget: There is no need to max out your credit cards for trivial purchases. Come up with a budget and plan for purchases you can truly afford. Now, be ready to be a bit flexible. There will be deals you won’t want to pass on because at the end they might just save you triple of what you would have paid.

* Make a List: think about what you have been wanting/needing and haven’t been able to afford. Think about gifts you will need to get for Xmas/Hanukkah that are more than $50. Add everything and anything for yourself or anyone, including sizes and quantities. Knowing ahead will avoid having to call while you’re shopping or in a rush.

*Break The List: Divide the items in separate lists. Decide which are on a need basis and which are on a splurge basis. This way you will not overspend on unneccessary items and you will keep up the budget that you have set up. Write them all down on your phone or notebook and keep the list handy!

* Scout & Sign Up To Websites: Do a Google/Bing search for what’s on your list. Be smart, shop smart, research early! Get acquainted with prices! Some stores inflate the original price to show a huge difference on the Black Friday or Cyber Monday deals, do not get fooled by that! Dont wait until CM to find the prices for the items you want or need. Sign up to the newsletter of the ones that you liked so you can receive email-only discount codes or in-store coupons.

* Research Store Policies: There will be many websites showing amazing deals but only go for those stores you have previously purchased from, read good reviews about or heard from others that have great customer service. Reasearch the store’s return and shipping policies and look for the ones that already offer free exchanges/returns and/or free shipping. Reading the fine print might save you time, money and headaches! It works as well for physical stores as this will give you a heads-up about what to expect when mall shopping.

* Create An Account: If you find what you’re looking for on a particular site, then sign up to the website. Create a free account and add your email to their list to get heads up on deals. Make sure the website its verified, has secure browsing and payments, and that its reputable. Add your information and credit card (if you feel comfortable) which will save you time and having to search for your wallet! If the website has an actual physical store this will allow you to save time while paying as you won’t have to give your info again.

*APP it Up!!: Nowadays, there is an app for everything! For shopping there are apps that hep you find the best deals with a single barcode scan, the closest malls and stores, coupons and discount codes and their info/location. Stores like eBay, amazon, zappos, walmart, target and overstock have their own apps filled with deals, must-have purchases, browsing/purchasing options and price matching.

* Mall Shopping: Take the Want/Need List with you, all coupons that you have gathered and get ready to shop till you literally drop! Take someone with you and I most recommend to not take children. This will save you time, since children need extra attention, and for when you have to try something on or search for an extra thing. Once you feel you have seen or chosen what you wanted/needed, then send someone to stay on the line to pay, this will save you time and allow you to shop faster. Many stores have a holiday return policy that might be extended or reduced from the average 30 days, make sure you know this before purchasing the items. If the purchases are gifts, get a gift receipt and make sure that the items are exchangeable/returnable, remember some sale items have a non return/exchange policy.

Hola Compradores!!

Esta es la temporada de las festividades y los eventos. Con el Dia de Accion de Gracias, la fiesta de todos los amantes del arte: Art Basel Miami Beach, y mis dos favoritas: Navidad y La venida de 2013, tenemos mucho que celebrar! Estos son meses para pasarlos en familia, con los seres queridos y por supuesto: para comprar!! No hay nada mejor que sentir que pudiste conseguir regalos espectaculares a precios frugalicious, asi que abrochate el cinturos y preparate para tomar nota de los trucos y consejos para tener tus bolsas de compras llenas sin tener que dejar los bolsillos vacios!

Compras de Festividades 101!
* Planea un Presupuesto: no hay necesidad de quedarse en bancarrota o de topar las tarjetas de credito con compras triviales. Escoje un presupuesto con el que te sientas comodo y planea comprar cosas que puedas pagar. Preparate para ser un poco flexible porque habran descuentos que no querras pasar ya que te ayudaran a ahorrar el triple de lo que hubeiras pagado.

* Haz una Lista: Piensa en las cosas que has querido o que necesitas y que no has podido costear. Piensa en los regalos para Navidad/Hanukkah que quieras comprar y que sean mas de $50. Anade en esta lista todo lo que quisieras comprar y para todos lo que necesitas comprar, y no te olvides de incluir tallas y cantidades, ya que esto te ayudara a ahorrar tiempo mientras vas de compras.

* Divide la Lista: Esa infame lista que incluye todo lo que encesitas comprar, dividela entre las cosas que son necesarias y las que son por diversion. Esto te ayudara a mantenerte cerca del presupuesto y a comprar sabiamente. Puedes hacer un esquema y escoger 1 pieza en la que derrochar por cada 5 que compres que son necesarias, asi mantendras un balance. Manten esta lista en tu telefono, email o agenda ya que te sera necesaria en tus compras.

* Explora y Subscribete: Haz una buqueda por Google/Bing y ve los precios que tienen las cosas que estan en tu lista. Compra inteligentemente y con bastante conocimiento, ya que el tener una idea de los precios te ayudara a ahorrar dinero y no dejarte enganar por tiendas que inflan los valores antes de fechas com Black Friday o Cyber Monday. Subscribete por email para que te lleguen descuentos y cupones por correo que puedas utilizar durante tus compras.

* Investiga las Politicas de las Tiendas: Siempre compra en tiendas que tengan buena reputacion, en las que hayas comprado anteriormente o que te hayan sido recomendadas por amigos. Investiga sus politicas de devolucion y reembolso y asegurate que ofrezacan envio o cambios gratis. Leer la letra pequena te ahorrara tiempo, dinero y dolores de cabeza. Muchas tiendas de los centros comerciales tienen las pliticas en sus sitios del internet y te dan una idea de lo que puedes esperar con ellos.

* Crea Una Cuenta Con Las Tiendas: Si encuentras algo que sea parte de tu lista en algun sitio del internet, entoces crea una cuenta gratis con ellos donde puedas incluir tu informacion y asi tener tus datos listos cuando vayas a comprar. Asegurate que el sitio esta verficado y que tenga busqueda y compra segura. Puedes incluir tu tarjeta de credito si te hace sentir comodo y asi evitar tener que buscar la billetera muchas veces.

* Familiarizate Con las APPS: Las aplicaciones para telefonos mobiles son una de las mejores invenciones de nuestros tiempos! Nos ayudan a encontrar los mejores precios, tiendas cercanas, bajar cupones o codigos de descuento, y hayar diferentes articulos con un simple codigo de barra! Tiendas como ebay, zappos, overstock, amazon, taret y walmart, tienen sus propias apps que te dan su informacion, listas de compras y te permiten pagar desde tu telefono.

* Compras en Los Centros Comerciales: Llevate tu lista de lo que necesitas y lo que quieres, los cupones de decuentos y preparate para comprar hasta no poder mas!! Llevate alguien contigo y preferiblemente deja los pequenos en casa ya que necesitan atencion extra, esto te ayudara a ahorrar tiempo y poder comprar mas rapidamente. Cuando hayas determinado que tienes casi todo en tu lista entoces envia a tu acompanante a que espere en la linea de pago, asi pierdes menos tiempo y puedes medirte algo si necesario o buscar algo que hayas olvidado. La mayoria de tiendas tienen una politica de dovolucion, reembolso y/o cambios diferentes durante las festividades. Alguna la extienden de los 30 dias y otras la reducen, asi que asegurate de saber todos estos detalles antes de pagar por tus compras. Si estas comprando regalos, pide un recibo de regalos por el articulo separado de manera que no tengas que dar tu original, y recuerda que algunos articulos en venta no son regresables o cambiables.
